Siri Can Answer Users’ Questions About COVID-19 Now

Since WHO has declared the COVID-19 a pandemic, every industry is trying to do its part. Apple is no short on competition and has updated Siri, its virtual assistant on iOS and iPad OS, to answer basic queries and could point people to authentic online health databases.

According to CNBC this weekend, voice queries like “Hey Siri, do I have the coronavirus?” will lead the users to a series of queries about common symptoms like the shortness of breath and fever.

As speculated, Siri, by no means, is an authority on medical issues nor it replaces a medical professional, but still, all its answers have been provided by the US Public Health Service. Siri can even get users to ring for emergency services.

For now, the service is only available for the US. It is yet unclear if, in other regions, Siri could point users to local directories for information or assistance.

Like every sector, technology is dwindling in these times of uncertainty and tries to put in their share, in every way possible. Streaming services are throttling their video quality, Whatsapp has partnered with WHO to dispense authentic information regarding COVID-19 and curb misinformation. Google has launched its own information hub.

For the moment, products are being launched and displayed online, but it’s going to be a long time before everything gets back to normal.
