Sky-Q App Now Available On Xbox

The streaming provider Sky is now making its own Sky Q app available for Xbox users. This allows Sky to be used to the same extent as is possible with a Sky-Q receiver – and at no additional cost.

The company announced this today and launched the Xbox app for all users after a beta phase. The app can be easily loaded onto the console via the MS Store. It is compatible with the Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

After logging in, you can find the most important features at a glance in the user interface. This also includes the autoplay function when playing, in order to start the next one automatically after the end of one episode, as well as restart, in order to watch programs that are already running from the beginning.

Technical requirements

According to Sky, one of the technical requirements for the app is active customer access to Sky Q with either the Sky Q service or Sky Q multiscreen. Separate Sky-Q login data are required to access the app, registering with a Sky ticket login does not work. Another prerequisite is an Internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 8, preferably 25 Mbit per second.

“The introduction of the Sky Q app on the Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X once again strengthens our multi-screen solution. This allows our customers to use Sky Q even more flexibly and conveniently,” explained Wolfram Wildhagen, Senior Vice President of Sky tv

This is what Sky wrote in the customer forum at the start of the app:

Dear community,

as of today, November 28, 2022, the time has come: The Sky Q app is available for the Xbox.

The app is available for Xbox One, X Box Series S & Xbox Series X and can be downloaded for free from the App Store. You have the same functions as on Samsung, LG TV, and Playstation and you can watch both linear TV and video on demand. The sound is in stereo and the picture quality is in HD. Autoplay is also possible. Subtitles and recordings are not available.

Please consider: In order to be able to watch the Sky program via your subscription, you need the multiscreen option or the Q Full Service.

You can find more information about using the app in the Help Center.

Have fun with the app
