Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is confirmed to power the OnePlus 12, Xiaomi 14, and other devices

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was officially announced by Qualcomm yesterday. The launch event confirmed some of the details regarding the first devices that will feature the new SoC. Reportedly, the new flagship SoC will be used with the Xiaomi 14 series, the OnePlus 12, and several other devices like the Realme GT5 Pro and iQOO 12.

Either Qualcomm or particular companies verified it yesterday. Additionally, a number of companies were highlighted as well, since they will all be using this processor going forward, including Meizu, NIO, Nubia, iQOO, OPPO, OnePlus, ASUS, HONOR, Redmi, RedMagic, Xiaomi, Vivo, Sony, Realme, and ZTE. Besides these companies, tech giants like Motorola and Samsung are also expected to use it. However, these companies were not mentioned particularly.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has several improvements

When it comes to features, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a lot to offer. It includes several improvements over its ancestor. It is built on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process. In terms of power, the new SoC is 30% more powerful than the previous generation SoC. It provides a 20% increase in power efficiency.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 includes a 25% more powerful and efficient GPU. It also features 40% improved Ray Tracking. The new Qualcomm Hexagon NPU has a 40% increase in efficiency and 98% quicker speed. Additionally, this processor supports an 8K external display and the Lumen lighting system with Unreal Engine 5.

Overall, the new flagship SoC has several improvements, these are just a few of them. The first smartphones with this chipset will be the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Well, because it’s coming tomorrow, October 26, at least it will be the first one that has been publicized.
