Sony WH-1000XM5: First images of the new ANC headset leaked

The first images of the Sony WH-1000XM5 have appeared online. Sony’s headphones are among the top models in the wireless ANC headset market. It is therefore exciting that Sony apparently finally dares to try a new design. As a reminder, Sony combines industry-leading active noise cancellation, high-quality sound, and the latest technologies such as 3D audio or intelligent motion detection in its flagship models. The WH-1000XM series is one of the most important Bluetooth headphones on the market. Now technology bloggers want to find the first photos of the upcoming flagship.

In the fifth generation, Sony finally seems to deviate from the well-known design of the previous models. As you can see from the photos, this means a rounder design that reminds me a bit of the Apple AirPods Max in shape. Typical for Sony, color combinations of white, black, and gold look classy, if not chubby.

Rumors of some technical improvements

The blog also leaks some technical data that sounds promising so far. A first highlight is the battery life, which the manufacturer is likely to improve by 25 percent from 40 hours to 50 hours with the ANC activated. Despite the long run time, the charging time should only be 30 minutes longer. A hint for better fast charging via USB-C.

In addition, a new driver must be used, which has not yet been specified. Sony’s already good ANC could get even better with the use of two processors – Sony may even debut the successor to the current QN1 ANC chip – and thanks to Bluetooth 5.2 and six microphones, the headphones seem to be a good overall package. It is currently unknown when the headphones will be released on the market and how expensive they will be.
