Soon, Galaxy Chromebooks may have a single app store

There are four different types of applications that are compatible with Galaxy Chromebooks. These include progressive web apps (PWAs) that are installed from the Chrome web browser. Then, users can download Android apps from the Play Store. Thirdly, Galaxy Chromebooks can run Linux apps. These apps run on Linux development environment and are downloaded from the internet. Lastly, users can download desktop games from Steam.

It is obvious that users are required to access four different places in order to download the particular apps. To put it simply, there is no such site where users could find all the apps in one place. Well, there might be a solution underway. According to 9To5Google, the tech giant Google is working on it.

Reportedly, the company is working on ‘App Mall’ for ChromeOS. It will offer both Android apps and PWAs. According to the publication, clicking on an app in App Mall will direct users to a website (discover.apps.chrome) that is under-development. Users could download the apps from this website. The App Mall is inaccessible during early testing via a flag.

Currently, there are no details regarding the availability of App Mall in ChromeOS. But based on ChromeOS’s past experience with feature rollouts, the new marketplace ought to be accessible to all users within the next several months.
