Spotify Fixes Bug Causing Ads for Premium Users

Spotify Premium users can finally relax — the unexpected ad glitch that disrupted their ad-free music experience has been resolved. A few days ago, Premium subscribers on Android, iOS, and the web noticed ads popping up during their music sessions, sparking a wave of feedback on Spotify’s official community forum.

Spotify quickly acknowledged the issue, assuring users that Premium accounts aren’t supposed to have ads while streaming music. The company confirmed it was a bug, not an intentional change. Today, an update shared on their community forum has confirmed the problem has been fixed. Here’s what Spotify had to say:

“Hey everyone,

Thanks for the patience while this was being investigated! We have good news from our teams – a fix for the instances where Premium users noticed ads when listening to music has been deployed and you should notice a difference right away. It’s worth keeping in mind, however, that it is expected that both free & Premium users may still see ads when listening to podcasts.

 Cheers!”

This isn’t the first time Premium users have reported seeing ads. Over the years, there have been occasional, smaller-scale issues, but this recent glitch appears to have been one of the most widespread. To address the problem, Spotify asked affected users to provide details such as their device model, OS version, app version (for non-web users), the type of ad encountered, and any troubleshooting steps attempted. The company even encouraged users to share videos of the issue to help investigate.

Thankfully, the fix seems to have been rolled out quickly. Premium users should no longer see ads while streaming music. If you were affected, feel free to share whether the issue is resolved for you — or if you’re still experiencing anything unexpected!
