Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl developers reveal updated system requirements. The post-apocalyptic shooter requires a lot of hardware, even for low settings. 4K gaming requires high-end components. The publication is imminent. GSC Game World
A week before the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl (STALKER 2) on November 20, 2024, developer GSC Game World has published the final system requirements for the new first-person shooter. The updated specifications show that the game is demanding even on low graphics settings and requires significantly more performance for higher resolutions than originally assumed.
For a smooth gaming experience in Full HD at 30 FPS and low settings, Stalker 2 requires at least an Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X processor, 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB) graphics card. It is interesting that Intel’s Arc A750 is also mentioned as an option for the minimum requirements. Regardless of the graphics settings, the game always requires an SSD with at least 160 GB of free space.
According to the developer, if you want to play at 60 FPS in Full HD and medium details, you should have an Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, also 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT .
For the recommended setup, which allows 60 FPS at 1440p and high graphics settings, the requirements increase significantly. An Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT are required here.
The “Epic” preset has the highest demands for 4K gaming with over 60 FPS. For this, GSC Game World recommends current high-end hardware such as an Intel Core i7-13700KF or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. To improve performance, Stalker 2 supports both AMD’s FSR and Nvidia’s DLSS 3 upscaling technologies.
Nvidia also confirmed that the game will use DLSS 3 frame generation and latency-reducing Reflex technology. The increased requirements compared to previous information indicate that the developers have further optimized the game’s graphic quality. At the same time, they show that Stalker 2 is technically up to date and could exploit the possibilities of modern hardware.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on November 20th for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store. Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers can also play the game immediately upon release. The STALKER series, known for its atmospheric depiction of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, returns after 15 years with this title. The first part, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, was released in 2007 and is considered a cult classic of the survival horror genre.
