StumbleUpon once a popular Social Platform Shuts Down

Before we stumbled upon the social media age, where Facebook & Twitter dominated, there was a discovery engine called StumbleUpon. The goal of the engine was to push recommended sites up for the audience. The aim of the site was to allow users to discover new and interesting web pages without putting in the extra effort. In last 16 years, StumbleUpon has served over 40 billion users.

Now in May, the co-founder of StumbleUpon Garrett Camp officially announced that the site is shutting down by the end of June. StumbleUpon users were urged to shift their accounts to Mix.com. Now the content aggregator site has shut down after 16 years of its launch.

StumbleUpon tweeted on June 1st, 2018, “Today is the last day to hit that Stumble button. Thank you to our dear Stumblers for joining us in internet history. We hope you find your next home with us at Mix.”

Even though StumbleUpon has closed, users are asked to shift to Mix which is their new discovery engine for internet content. Mix will incorporate original StumbleUpon content which is to offer users the easiest way to discover new and interesting web pages, and videos across the web along with offering improvements to the whole concept.

“Mix’s mission is to connect the curious with the creative, delivering personalized recommendations one click at a time. Mix will provide a modern and elegant way to discover the best content liked by friends and experts, from across the web to your mobile device.”

If you visit the StumbleUpon’s home page it will redirect you to the Mix Portal. This will allow the users to find web content that interests them, save it and share it. Also, Mix allows StumbleUpon users to import their whole account to Mix without any hurdles.
