Two iPhone models now “vintage”

How MacRumors reports, Apple has added the iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone XS Max to its vintage list. It contains devices whose official sales were discontinued more than five years ago. Apple and its partners only provide a limited repair service for the products listed there, as long as required spare parts are still in stock.

The successor to the iPhone After the iPhone 6s, it is also the first device to receive seven software updates. The smartphone was delivered with iOS 12 when it was launched and received the latest version of Apple’s iPhone operating system a few weeks ago with iOS 18.1. Apple Watch Series 2 becomes “obsolete”

In contrast to the Vintage list, the Obsolete list contains products that have not been sold by Apple for at least seven years. Apple no longer provides hardware support for these products at all. If you have to complain about a defect, you can either hope to get spare parts through unofficial channels or you will have to buy a new device. Now the following four variants of the Apple Watch have landed on the list:

• Apple Watch Series 2 (2nd Generation, Aluminum), 42mm
• Apple Watch Series 2 (2nd Generation, Stainless Steel), 38mm
• Apple Watch Series 2 (2nd Generation, Stainless Steel), 42mm

In contrast to the iPhone XS MAX, software support for the Apple Watch Series 2 ended some time ago. The wearables received their last update with watchOS 6.3, which was released in December 2020, after four years on the market.
