iOS 19 Leak Teases Major iPhone Camera App Redesign with Advanced Controls and Sleek UI

iOS 19

Apple may be planning a significant update to its iPhone Camera app with the arrival of iOS 19, according to a recent leak. Though the next iOS update is still six months away, new information from Jon Prosser of the YouTube channel “Front Page Tech” suggests a complete redesign of the app’s user interface, inspired by the design approach of visionOS.

Rumored Changes and Features:

One of the standout elements in this proposed redesign is the integration of translucent menus that organize camera controls into distinct categories—Photo and Video. Each category provides tailored options for the selected mode, allowing users to quickly access advanced features.

Photo Mode Enhancements:

When selecting the Photo mode at the screen’s bottom, users may gain access to controls for:

  • Recording spatial videos
  • Capturing panoramic shots
  • Applying photographic styles
  • Adjusting portrait mode depth

Video Mode Enhancements:

Video controls are expected to include easy options for switching resolution and frame rate, enabling finer customization for content creation.

Additional Upgrades:

  • Top Screen Controls:
Flash settings, Live Photos toggles, and video adjustments are said to be conveniently located at the top.
  • Shutter-area Features:
The rumored layout preserves commonly used controls around the shutter button, including access to the photo library (left) and the button for switching between cameras (right).

While leaks suggest this overhauled UI could significantly streamline the photography and videography experience, it’s important to treat these details as speculative. Apple’s final designs often remain under wraps until closer to release.

If true, this refresh would represent one of the most substantial changes to the Camera app in years, aligning its design ethos with newer platforms, and potentially setting the stage for an even more user-friendly experience on iPhones.
