Terminator Returns As Animated Series On Netflix
Very little is known about it yet, but with the words “I’ll be back” the Terminator has once again been proven right: Netflix is bringing back the story about Skynet, Sarah Connor, and the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 or T-800. This time as an anime.
Details about the launch of Terminator are still missing
Netflix has now announced this as part of the Geeked Week event and released an official teaser. The preview doesn’t reveal much so far, only that one can expect that the planned animated series will not start where the movies started – but with the prehistory.
According to a report by the online magazine Variety, Netflix will soon publish the new Terminator franchise project, but details about the launch are not yet known.
“Terminator: The Anime Series”
Under the working title “Terminator: The Anime Series”, the series will follow brand new characters, so there will be a new story and not a retelling of well-known stories in an anime outfit. It is also known that the Japanese animation studio Production IG (“Ghost in the Shell”) is developing the series.
The official synopsis reads: “2022: For decades, a future war has raged between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gains consciousness and begins its war against humanity. Caught between the Future and the Past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity.
She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who is working on introducing a new AI system, to confront Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm grapples with the moral dilemmas of his creation, he is hunted by a relentless assassin from the future who changes the fate of his three children forever.”
