Tesla Builds World’s Largest Battery in Record Time

Tesla has built the largest battery in the world in record time. Elon Musk took a bet with the Australian people that he will build a 100MW battery in just 100 days, otherwise, it will be free. It was in July he made the bet.

Tesla completed its task and what is more Tesla did it with 40 days to spare.

SThe SouthAustralian government made the announcement of the completion of the biggest, largest lithium-ion battery in the world. Jay Weatherill, the office of state premier has made the confirmation that the battery would be energized within days.

This all started because of a bet between the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk and another fellow billionaire founder of Australian tech company Atlassian Mike Cannon-Brookes.

When there were major power outages in South Australia, Cannon-Brookes challenged Musk to find its solution.  The bet was struck on Twitter in March. The deal was done, Musk made the announcement that he will build the biggest battery within 100 days after the contract is signed. The contract was signed on September 29th and from then countdown started. Now it is official that Tesla has won the bet, and build the largest battery in the world.

100MW battery array is connected to a Hornsdale wind farm nearby and it is operated by Neoen. The battery will launch officially by next week and then its testing phase will start.

It must be noted that this is not just about a bet, or developing a powerful battery this whole situation also tell us about the importance of social media. How something that began on Twitter has now been practically done and achieved by Tesla.
