The carrier-locked Galaxy S20 receives the year’s final security update in the United States

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung is busy updating most of its devices with Android 14, but it looks like there’s none for the Galaxy S20. However, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series is getting a software update to keep up with the December security patch. For now, this update is available in the US for carrier-locked versions.

Galaxy S20 receives security update for December 2023 patch

For the carrier-locked Galaxy S20 series devices in the US, the final security update of the year—the December 2023 security update—is currently accessible. The firmware version of the upgrade is G98xUSQS8HWK1, and its download size is comparatively smaller. Approximately 75 vulnerabilities found in the previous software version are fixed in the December 2023 security patch.

You can now check for the most recent security update if you own a carrier-locked Galaxy S20 series device in the US. Go to Settings > Software Update and select Download and Install to accomplish that. Alternatively, you can manually flash the updated firmware file by downloading it from our database.

Early in 2020, Samsung released the Galaxy S20 series, which came pre-installed with Android 10. The Android 11 update arrived in late 2020; the Android 12 update arrived in late 2021; and the Android 13 update arrived in late 2022 for the devices in the lineup. They will not receive One UI 6.0, which is based on Android 14.
