The CEO of Instagram acknowledges that there are too many videos on the site

TikTok is one of the most popular video streaming platforms. Its popularity has grown in quite a short time. Due to the overwhelming response of users to TikTok’s platform, many social media platforms adopted rivalry strategies. But it seems like such strategies didn’t work well. Since the CEO of Instagram admits that the platform is presented with a lot of videos.

To compete with TikTok, Instagram introduced short-form videos which were termed Reels. YouTube came forward with YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat presented Spotlight. It all happened because of a silly challenge. Since then other social media platforms became quite concerned about their user base. Although, the American govt has labeled TikTok as a major security threat. But even this could not mess with its dominion in the market. In other words, we can say that TikTok has revolutionized the internet culture as a whole.

Throughout 2022, the social media platform observed a surge in videos. In reality, the Instagram platform was introduced as a photo-sharing app. But sadly, the video and reels concept has taken over the entire idea. A balanced approach doesn’t appear to work here. Besides these facts, we should remember that Instagram is a Meta-owned company. In addition to this, the company has made several strikes against the TikTok platform. So, we can imagine the pressure that is posed on the officials of the Instagram company.

However, besides all this, the company is finding a way out of this situation by devising a balanced approach. It is a piece of good news for users who are least interested in videos and reels. However, the CEO, Aam Mosseri mentioned that videos and reels contribute to more engagement by the audiences. User engagement is critical for a social media platform. Well, we can hope that the platform comes forward with a more balanced approach throughout this year.
