The direct messaging feature on Instagram is about to get a ton of new features
Instagram is a platform for sharing photos and videos offered by meta. Besides these media sharing features, the platform enables users to directly communicate (DM) with one another. Honestly, this feature is not much appreciated by users. Despite this, the latest update adds several new messaging-focused features to Instagram DMs.
Several new features were announced for Instagram DMs this week. One of the most notable features is the ability to edit messages. As the site notes, you may now edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending them, which is a long-overdue feature. This restriction seems sense given WhatsApp’s functionality.
In addition to this feature, users can now pin messages. Reportedly, three chats can be pinned to the top of messaging box. This feature is also similar to the one offered by WhatsApp. It will give users quick and easy access to their favorite people or groups. Furthermore, the platform will receive the read receipts feature as well. Again, this feature is already offered by WhatsApp. Using this feature, users will get to know the details like when their message is read.
One thing to notice here is that this feature won’t be available to users who use Instagram on computers. It’s also important to note that you can now respond to messages using voice messages, GIFs, stickers, videos, and images. Lastly, Instagram allows you to add themes to chats and store your favorite stickers.
