The first Developer Preview Version of Android 15 will be unveiled tomorrow

Upgrades, whether hardware or software, are equally important for smartphones. When it comes to software, Android 14 is the latest version of the operating system available on most recent Android smartphones. The South Korean firm Samsung is busy rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 updates to its devices. Google, on the other hand, is ready to reveal the first Developer Preview of Android 15.

When will the Android 15 Developer Preview be released?

According to 9To5Google, the first Developer Preview version of Android V (Android 15) will be available on February 15, 2024. The information comes from a developer at Google who shared it on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) website. The internal codename Android V is abbreviated as V for Vanilla Ice Cream. It should be noted that, in contrast to the previous year, Google might release the first Developer Preview of Android 15 later than it did for Android 14.

Possibly, the company will restrict the new update to Pixel smartphones and tablets. It might be available on some other Android phones in the upcoming months. According to reports, Android 15 includes a new feature called Privat Space that is similar to the Secure Folder available on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Users can conceal certain apps and files in this folder that is protected by a password. Furthermore, it has emerged that Google may enable NFC to update independently of operating system updates—that is, NFC may receive updates much like app updates.

Based on Android 15, Samsung can come up with a variety of new features. We can assume that the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 updates (first beta version) might arrive by the third quarter of this year. Whereas stable updates could be available by the year’s end. In the meantime, the One UI 6.1 updates will be rolled out to eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the coming months.
