The most recent Windows 10 preview build makes the lock screen functional

What is the frequency of your presence on the Windows 10 lock screen? Although Microsoft appears to want it to serve as a central location for PC information, it has been largely unusable for some time and requires moving past it in order to access your computer. But Microsoft intends to alter that with a forthcoming Windows 10 release. You can now add financial, traffic, and weather data to your lock screen on the Preview branch, in addition to a few other useful features.

Windows 10 will have an improved lock screen

The lock screen of the operating system is receiving a great makeover; additional material has been added to your lock screen. There will also be content on sports, traffic, weather, and finance. Navigate to Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen to activate this function. Please take note that, due to its progressive rollout, not every user will have access to this function.

This update is still in preview, so if your Windows computer isn’t part of the Insiders program, you won’t be able to get it. Still, it shouldn’t take long for everyone to receive this update.

There will be more for Windows 10

But there’s more to the update than that. Additionally, Windows Spotlight will be added to your wallpaper. If you have the option activated on your lock screen, you might be familiar with it, as it is the same feature that modifies the background of your lock screen differently every day. As anticipated, Windows displays a fresh wallpaper each day, and you can click a button on the desktop to view more information about the image that’s been displayed.

Considering that Windows 10 will no longer receive updates after October 2025, it’s encouraging to see Microsoft continuing to introduce useful new features to the operating system. Microsoft’s efforts won’t be in vain, though, considering that Windows 10 is being used by a greater number of people than Windows 11.
