The Most Successful Women Gamers

The common myth is that only men adore gambling. However, many women love to take risks as well! As such, you will find women in many poker games. Even if you go to sites like a casino verde Quebec, you should not be surprised that there are female players.

However, are there successful female gamblers? The answer is a resounding yes. Today, we will show you a list of the most successful female gamblers and tell you a bit of their history.

1. Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst is one of the best poker players of all time. At the time of this writing, she holds the #1 spot among poker players with the highest earnings. She has around $12 million in gambling earnings. Also, Vanessa is the only woman to have achieved the top spot in the Global Poker Index. As such, she is the best poker player among all women on this list.

Vanessa Selbst is not just a random player who likes to gamble. She studied at two universities (MIT and Yale). Also, Vanessa has a law degree. On top of that, she works as a hedge fund manager if there is no poker game to attend. That’s what we call multitasking!

2. Kristen Bicknell

Kristen hails from Canada and currently holds third place among all of the highest earners in poker. She has been playing for over a decade. Back in 2017, she received the accolade of being the best female professional player in the world.

Born in Ontario, Kristen started playing poker in college. She started in the game because she was inspired by Jennifer Hartman, a professional poker player. Her first stint in poker was online, back in 2006. In PokerStars, she hit the Supernova Elite class. What it means is that she was required to play 2.5 million hands every year. That was what it took to maintain her status.

Her strategy was to focus on games with small blinds, like $1/$2 or $2/$4. It was in 2016 when Kristen won the $1,500 no-limit game in an event where she took home $290,768.

3. Poker Alice

If you have not heard about Poker Alice, then it is time to brush up on history. Her full name is Alice Ivers Duffield Tubbs Huckert. She was born in England but moved to the US when she was a kid with her parents. Alice took to poker after her husband died in an accident. She used gambling to support herself and found out that she had incredible skills in it.

When she started, she worked as a poker dealer. Eventually, Alice mustered the courage to play. She took home money from winning, and people began to call her Poker Alice. She gained popularity quickly, drawing crowds to watch her play.

A lot of men challenged her and lost. One thing that stood out was that she never played poker on Sundays. She kept playing, and her money kept growing as her gambling career blossomed. On some nights, it was reported that she took home $6,000 after a game—and this was in the early 1900s!

Alice is also known for carrying a gun. Her favourite was the .38. She also smoked cigars while playing and loved wearing fashionable clothes.

4. Annette Obrestad

Last on our list is Annette, who is a popular poker player and YouTuber. Born in 1988, she was one of the most successful players at a young age. She started playing at the age of 15.

Like Kristen, Annette started her poker career online. She did not deposit money online. Instead, she won real cash in a non-cash tournament. In less than a year, she won over $500,000 cash in online poker, specifically in PokerStars.

She also has other big wins on other sites:

  • $200,000 on UltimateBet;
  • 136,000 on Full Tilt Poker.

There was a time when she was ranked number 51 in poker in 2008. It was in 2007 when Annette came first in the WSOP in Europe. She won this prestigious game when she was not even 19 years old. Anette won $2.01 million in that tournament.

As of 2020, her total winnings exceeded 3.9 million. Up to this day, this record is growing. She still plays poker until now and is active in the profession.

One would think that she has a poker channel on YouTube. Instead, her content, Annette’s Makeup Corner, is about tutorials for cosmetics. She reviews eyeshadow products and occasionally posts videos of makeup tutorials.

Women gamblers are as good as men, so do not make the mistake of underestimating them. The good news is that society today is less judgemental of women in gambling. They can become professionals and earn even more than men! Another bright side is that some females have already won the WSOP bracelets. Hopefully, more and more female players will participate in gambling activities to promote the sport.
