There are three new free games for retro fans

Nintendo Switch Online members can now look forward to three new retro games. The Japanese are bringing the NES and SNES classics Earthworm Jim 2, Dig Dug 2, and Mappy-Land to their popular hybrid console at no extra cost. The three titles are now available for download to all players who have an active online membership and thus have access to the respective emulators or apps. The Nintendo Switch Online service not only provides access to NES and Super Nintendo games but is also required to participate in online multiplayer matches with the console. The costs for this amount to a maximum of 3.99 euros per month. In addition, Nintendo offers the so-called expansion pass, which contains various DLCs for, for example, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but also a selection of Nintendo 64 (N64) and Sega Genesis games. The surcharge for this is 40 euros per year.

Earthworm Jim 2 (SNES)

Put on your super suit and take on the role of Jim, the annelid with character, in this wild platformer released for the Super NES console in 1995! The action kicks off after Jim’s successful rescue of Princess what’s her name and his failed attempts to seduce her. Just when it looked like the princess might change her mind, the evil Psy-Crow arrived and kidnapped her to claim the crown. Now it’s up to Jim to stop their marriage by following them from planet to planet. But this time he’s not alone – his friend Scott is joining the party. Jump, shoot, swing, and slime your way through 10 different levels, catch Psy-Crow and save the girl of Jim’s dreams!

DIG DUG II (NES)

DIG DUG has decided to take a vacation on a remote island, but the POOKA and FYGAR won’t let him rest! Each turn, take out enemies by blowing them up until they burst or by digging traps for them to fall into. But be careful not to get too close to their attacks or fall into your own traps!

CARD COUNTRY (NES)

MAPPY the police mouse has all kinds of wonderful gifts for MAPICO and MAPPY Jr. But the big boss of the cat world, NYAMCO, has ordered his clown “MEOWKIES” to hide the presents all over MAPPY-LAND. If he wants to get the gifts to the recipients on time, MAPPY has to be twice as fast to find them! Dodge and activate traps to eliminate the cunning cats in your way. You can also use special items hidden in the level to distract them. Collect six of the same gifts to advance to the next stage. Can MAPPY make it through all eight cities and survive the onslaught of the Claws?
