The Chinese company Xiaomi is all set to upgrade several flagship smartphones to Wi-Fi 7. Reportedly, the company will update all members of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14 series and the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. An upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 will offer low latency, fast network speeds, and improved anti-interference capabilities, signifying a momentous transition into the new Wi-Fi era.
IEEE 802.11be, or Extremely High Throughput, is another name for Wi-Fi 7, which is the next generation of Wi-Fi standards. Wi-Fi 7 expands on the features of Wi-Fi 6 by introducing 4096-QAM, multi-link operation, multi-RU (Resource Unit), 320 MHz bandwidth, and multi-AP (Access Point) collaboration. Compared to Wi-Fi 6, these improvements lead to faster data transfer rates and lower latency.
As compared to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7 will expectedly offer 23 Gbps, a three-fold substantial increase that will offer unified connectivity. Moreover, it can even stream HD content, online games, and other bandwidth-intensive tasks. In simple words, the user experience across different apps will improve with the upgrade to Wi-Fi 7.
According to the company’s announcement post, the upgrade refers to a whole new experience and not just the speed. The technology offers enhanced anti-interference protection, reduced latency, dynamic optimization, and multi-way connection capabilities. All these improvements add up to a stronger and more effective Wi-Fi experience.
In addition to the flagship smartphones, the company will also upgrade its routers. Firmware updates, including the Wi-Fi 7 features, have begun rolling out to the Xiaomi 10 Gigabit router and the Xiaomi BE7000 Wi-Fi 7 Router. A new 1.1.6 version is available for the Xiaomi 10 Gigabit router. With this recent development, users may expect a radical change in their connectivity experience.
