Gaming headsets: Logitech relies on comfort
With the G522, Logitech is launching a new gaming headset that is the successor to the popular G733. The new model of the G5 series is now available in black and white at the price of 169 euros and is aimed at gamers, which according to the manufacturer value comfort and audio quality. Among other things, the Swiss have revised the wearing comfort in the G522.
The ear cups are now wider, filled with more memory foam and equipped with a softer but (hopefully) durable fabric cover. In addition, the headband was redesigned to better distribute the pressure in longer gaming sessions and to prevent fatigue.
Audio quality for competitive gaming
Inside the Logitech G522, synchronized Pro-G drivers work with a 48 kHz / 24-bit signal processing. These are intended to reproduce fine details such as removed steps or the reloading of weapons – a decisive advantage in competitive game situations where spatial hearing can definitely decide on victory and defeat.
The built-in microphone supports 48 kHz at 16 bit and has the Blue Voice technology for voting adjustment. Audio settings can be individually adjusted using the G Hub software or a separate app using a 10-band equalizer. Triple connectivity and improved battery life
One of the greatest improvements compared to the previous G733 model is the extended connectivity. While the G733 could only be connected to PCs and PlayStation consoles via a USB dongle, the G522 now offers a “tri-mode connectivity”: Lightspeed Wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C are available. This increases flexibility and makes the headset usable across platforms.
The battery life was also significantly improved – from 29 hours on the G733 to up to 60 hours without RGB lighting on the G522. The term is reduced with activated lighting, but still remains above the level of the predecessor. A quick charging function also enables short loading times for longer gaming sessions.
