Threads Presents Tags—Hashtags Without the Hash Sign

In contrast to Meta’s other social media platforms, Threads is a new and growing one. On its launch, Threads acquired a billion active users; however, the number declined shortly given the lack of features on the platform. The platform is undergoing modifications with the constant addition of new features that will eventually improve the user experience. Meta introduced Threads to rival Elon Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter). In December, Meta is all set to debut Threads in the European Union.

According to some recent pieces of information, Threads is now ready to receive tags. Reportedly, the tags will act like hashtags that can be found on other platforms; however, tags on Threads come with some advanced and unique attributes. A new # button can be found in the compose window of Threads. It can be used to add a tag to the post.

In contrast to hashtags, a tag doesn’t include the hash symbol. It can be a word or a phrase, including spaces. Given this, a tag has more potential to fit in sentences and eventually posts. They can even have special characters. You can either make your own tag or use an existing one that you can choose from when you type in your tag. To prevent tag spam, users are limited to tagging a single topic per post.

Clicking on a tag in a post allows users to view all of the posts in the search view. When a post is tagged, it is easy to discover while searching for a topic, although all references of the utilized keywords appear in the same search screen regardless of whether the articles they are included in have also been tagged. Besides this, there are several features that are missing from the social media platform. The platform has no trending section and even the searches can’t be chronologically organized.
