TikTok might introduce a Standalone Photo App, “TikTok Photos”

TikTok is the mastermind behind the short-from videos. According to some recent pieces of information, the company might be exploring a new area. We are talking about a standalone photo sharing app from TikTok. While breaking down the most recent TikTok update, a tech researcher found hidden code that pointed to the release of a new app named “TikTok Photos.”

It appears like the company intends to introduce a dedicated platform for photo sharing. In this way, users could get a more natural experience. In contrast to this, the current systems implies that users can share pictures in form of slideshow-like videos that is a major limitation. The code hints that there will be some features that could help users grow their audience.

A strategy for “reaching people with similar interests who enjoy photos” is one option; it might help users get in touch with larger communities that are dedicated to taking pictures. The code also proposes an optional functionality that makes it unnecessary to re-upload images by syncing previously taken TikTok photos with the new app. As far as the icon of the app is concerned, it appears similar to the color scheme of the TikTok app.

There are no details regarding the launch and availability of the app. However, we can expect it to arrive soon on Android and iOS devices. We can also expect a web version as well. It is a significant step forward for TikTok as they venture into photo sharing. It will be fascinating to observe how “TikTok Photos” fits into social media and whether it will dethrone Instagram as the industry leader in photo-sharing.
