Big tech CEOs, including Apple’s Tim Cook, have used social media to congratulate President Donald Trump on his inauguration, reaffirming their commitment to driving growth, innovation, and jobs in the United States. The pattern of praise, in-person appearances, and financial contributions from Silicon Valley’s leaders continued on Inauguration Day, with Cook joining other CEOs in sharing their messages on Elon Musk’s platform, X (formerly Twitter).
Apple CEO Tim Cook posted a message on X following his attendance at the ceremony:
Congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump and Vice President @JDVance on Inauguration Day. We look forward to working with the administration to drive continued innovation and jobs for future growth across our great nation. — Tim Cook (@tim_cook) January 20, 2025
Cook’s post closely mirrors the message he shared after President Trump’s 2016 victory. Similar sentiments were echoed by other big tech leaders, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, highlighting their shared enthusiasm for fostering innovation and American ingenuity.
During Trump’s first term, Apple largely maintained a neutral stance, with limited direct interactions. However, President Trump did visit a Mac Pro assembly plant in 2019, where he was gifted a Mac Pro.
This time around, Tim Cook has taken a more hands-on approach. He has attended in-person meetings and events, even donating $1 million of his personal funds to the inauguration fund. Although Apple itself did not contribute, Cook has promised significant U.S.-based investments.
While President Trump has credited these investments to his reelection, they are more directly tied to the CHIPS Act, signed by President Biden in 2022. Apple is increasing its reliance on U.S.-manufactured chips, thanks to TSMC’s new production plants in Arizona.
Every presidency requires a tailored strategy, and Tim Cook seems to understand this well. As Apple navigates President Trump’s second term, it will be interesting to see how the company’s relationship with the administration evolves.
