TP-Link Archer AXE300: Router monster with quad-band & up to 16 Gbit/s

TP-Link presented its best-equipped WLAN router model to date at CES 2022. Thanks to its quad-band Wi-Fi, the Archer AXE300 is said to offer speeds of up to 16 Gbit / s, but it also goes a long way with the built-in LAN connections.

This router clearly follows the principle “may it be a little more”

What is currently possible with routers at the top? TP-Link wants to answer this question at CES 2022 with the AXE300 model. This is definitely aimed at real router enthusiasts and professional users who do not want to forego maximum speed in the home network. First of all: what you write on the price tag of the new flagship model and when it will end up in stores is not yet known.

But it is clear that TP-Link can offer one of the first “AXE16000 Quad-Band WiFi 6E” in the world – but other manufacturers are already warming up to the CES in this area. WLAN benefits from four radio modules and eight antennas, which in turn can be used to implement four MIMO streams. With its four asymmetrical WiFi 6E bands, the Archer AXE300 offers the following values: 4804 Mbit / s (6 GHz) + 4804 Mbit / s (5 GHz-1) + 4804 Mbit / s (5 GHz-2) + 1148 Mbit / s (2.4 GHz).

As TP-Link explains, the cooperation between the various bands results in better signal strength and increased coverage, as well as avoiding overloads and reducing interference. Last but not least, the 6 GHz band is a channel that is of course still wonderfully unpopulated compared to other bands. In theory, the router allows more than 350 devices to be connected at the same time.

LAN at the top level

The top equipment continues with the wired connection options. The highlight here are two ports that enable speeds of up to 10 Gbit / s. As TP-Link emphasizes, an SFP + / RJ45 combo LAN port offers not only a fast network connection but also faster NAS transmissions via the LAN – the built-in, but so far unspecified 2.0 GHz quad-core processor should also help here .
