TSMC Starts Production Of A15 Bionic Processor For iPhone 13

On the morning of May 26th, an industry insider broke the news to the media that TSMC has started production of the new generation iPhone processor A15 chip. In terms of production scale, the A15 is larger than the previous generation A14. It seems that Apple predicts that the demand for the iPhone 13 series will be higher than that of the iPhone 12 series.

Last year, the iPhone 12 series was postponed to October due to the epidemic. However, as far as the current A15 preparations are concerned, Apple will hold an autumn conference in September as usual, and the plan to launch the iPhone 13 series should be realized.

According to reports, the A15 processor used in the iPhone 13 series will be upgraded to the N5P process, which is the second generation of 5nm. The performance of the process level is further increased, the power consumption is further reduced, and the performance is at least 20% higher than that of the A14.

Although the details of the A15 are not known, Apple’s previous generations of A-series processors have never disappointed. It’s just that last year’s A14 took care of power consumption and improved its performance more conservatively. It is hoped that after the A15 process is improved, more potential can be released.

According to data, A14 has as many as 11.8 billion transistors, and the CPU architecture is still 2 large cores + 4 small cores, with a performance increase of 40% (compared to the same below A12). Similarly, the GPU core is still 4 cores, but due to the upgrade of the new architecture, the performance has increased by 30%. In addition, AI computing power has also increased to 11.8 trillion times, and the speed of machine learning has increased by 70%.
