Twitter introduces new rules to stop bulk tweeting and spam

Twitter has been fighting spam since long but the issue has been more of concern after strong criticism in the US that many platforms including Twitter were used in 2016 Presidential elections to influence the public opinion. In the wake of people’s concerns, Twitter has now announced to introduce new rules to stop bulk tweeting and spam bots on Twitter.

This move will also affect the users who use multiple accounts and tweet simultaneously for various accounts. The new update would restrict automated actions on Twitter, now the new update will make it harder for Tweedeckers to flock the social network.

Twitter launches new feature threads

With effect from March 23, apps would be able to prevent bulk tweeting otherwise they will face legal action and suspension of associated services according to Twitter. The social media network has spam rules already in place but this new update would be more crucial, it wouldn’t allow apps to permit users to tweet identical or somewhat similar tweets from multiple accounts simultaneously.

Additionally, Twitter is also going to ban apps that can be used to post similar content to multiple accounts in order to combat bot tweets going viral. Twitter is going to update Tweetdeck which will have new guidance and compliance rules.

Many social marketing agencies have used this bulk tweeting practice—as reported by Buzzfeed to make money from the other companies which is going to end now.
