Uber ban lifted in Sheffield United Kingdom

Uber was suspended in the English city of Sheffield which is now lifted by the authorities, Uber’s operating license has been restored after clearing questioning from the authorities about the taxi app’s management.

This development can give a new edge to the company in order to boost its British operations, a warm welcome by Sheffield awaits.

Earlier this month, authorities in Sheffield suspended Uber’s operating license because the ride-hailing company was failed to respond to the queries. Uber said that they did not receive the correspondence the council sent, as it was sent to wrong address.

According to officials in Sheffield, while talking to Reuters, they said they had “productive talk” with Uber’s management and they are looking into the new license application submitted by the company.

However, the new application was made by Uber in October, now the council is looking to review the application which will be considered for a decision expected in early 2018 to operate as a private car hire service in Sheffield, said the council official in a statement.

But Uber is still in turmoil, on Tuesday, the city of York also refused to renew Uber’s license to operate in the city raising concerns about data breach and number of complaints received by the community. It is the latest setback for the company which is already struggling to keep running the service in London.

There are several decisions still in the pipeline for Uber. The company is going to face a license renewal decision in the city of Cambridge next week. Uber’s licenses in some other cities are about to expire including Birmingham and Edinburgh in the beginning of 2018.
