Trackpoint is missing from the X9 series
The first indications of a new notebook series as part of Lenovo’s ThinkPad range appeared a few weeks ago in the form of photos from a Chinese authority. One of the pictures showed a 15-inch notebook that uses a new housing design instead of the usual plastic or carbon housing for ThinkPads.

They confirm the design of the new Lenovo ThinkPad X9 with 14 and 15 inch displays, which uses a metal cover around the keyboard. Visually, Lenovo’s devices are similar to the other notebook series from its production.
One thing is particularly noticeable for ThinkPad fans: the characteristic red track point in the middle between the keyboard keys and the corresponding keys above the trackpad are missing. The angular look of the “normal” ThinkPads is also eliminated in favor of a metal housing with a very thin thickness. First details about the technical equipment
The Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 comes with a resolution of 1920×1200 and has a matte display without a touchscreen. Under the hood there is an Intel Core Ultra 5 226V or Core Ultra 7 258V, with the clock speeds of the two new chips reaching up to 3.7 gigahertz. The RAM is 16 or 32 gigabytes and there are SSDs with 512 GB or one terabyte that work with Opal hardware encryption.
Additional features include support for Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 as well as a 55 watt-hour battery. The starting price for the 14-inch model in the new ThinkPad X9 series is apparently around $1,400 in the US. The 15-inch model, the ThinkPad X9 15, probably starts at $1,600. In return, the customer gets a 15.3-inch display with 2880×1800 pixels resolution and a matt surface.
The touchscreen is missing here too. When it comes to other features such as processors and connectivity, the larger model also corresponds to the 14-inch version. However, the battery here is considerably larger at 80 watt hours.
