Unknown Surface Laptop 4 Appeared In Certification

Surface Laptop 4

For a long time, it was quiet around the rumours about the not yet presented Surface Laptop 4. But now there are new indications. They come from the Bluetooth certification and indicate that the new generation will come with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6.

As early as November last year, we reported on the launch of the Surface Laptop 4, which is likely to take place in early 2021. Now, new information about the device has been published in advance. There are now many indications that the official market launch of the Surface Laptop 3 successor is imminent.

A device with the addition of Microsoft Surface Laptop 3+ was discovered. This is reported by the online magazine Windows Latest with a reference to insider information that had already reported on the new Surface in 2020. According to sources familiar with the development, the Surface Laptop 4 could now hit the market in March or April.

Four models of the Surface Laptop 4 – with the model designation 1952, 1953, 1958 and 1959 – have already passed Bluetooth certification. The certification includes a link to the Surface Laptop 3 product page, which suggests that it could be the revised successor to the Surface Laptop 3. It is interesting, however, that the “Model 1950”, which was tested last year by the South Korean authority for product safety Safety Korea, does not appear in the new list.

According to the Bluetooth SIG listing, the next-generation Surface Laptop will be equipped with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6.

More AMD versions are coming

The Surface Laptop 4 is slated to be launched this year with additional AMD options. The new generation of AMD chips will then be used in both the 13.5-inch and 15-inch versions of the notebook. At the moment, only the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 uses the AMD Ryzen processors, the 13.5-inch model is currently only offered with Intel Ice Lake CPUs.
