Update Surface Firmware To Improve Security And Performance

Microsoft is distributing new firmware for the Surface Pro X and for the Surface Studio. The updates improve overall stability and security, as well as compatibility, and the Pro X also improves battery life.

The new updates are now available for Surface Pro X and Studio owners. The new firmware brings bug fixes and general stability improvements, as well as security-relevant changes and, is therefore recommended to all users. As is so often the case, details of the changes are only given superficially in the support documents; only brief information on the new drivers is available.

Use the update function

Surface owners automatically receive the updates via the Windows update function. There is little information on the details of the changes. Surface Studio had not received any updates for a long time, now there is a maintenance update, which – not explicitly mentioned, but still very likely – should also prepare for the new Windows 10 May 2020 update, version 2004.
