Volkswagen announces the start of the ID. Software 3.0 feature update

Volkswagen has now announced the start date of the software update for the ID family. The group had actually promised the feature update for the end of 2021, but there were problems. Customer vehicles will be updated from April. New vehicles now come with ID.software 3.0, all other vehicles will be able to update via over-the-air updates soon.

This means that no one has to go to the workshop to receive the new software, as was the case before. ID. drivers had to be patient for a while, but now a number of new features and improvements for their vehicle are coming soon. Some of the feature updates will roll out equally to all vehicles in the ID. family, while other features will be equipment specific.

One of the most important innovations is the increased maximum charging speed: after the update, models with the 77 kWh battery installed can charge with 135 kW instead of 125. Voice control, Park Assist Plus with memory function and improved navigation have also been improved.

Further innovations depending on equipment/design

The Travel Assist with swarm data now starts with an assisted lane change, which is used when driving on the highway from a speed of 90 km/h. “The new ID. Software 3.0 is an upgrade for our entire ID. family: we take our products to a new functional level because we work faster, more connected, and more customer-oriented,” explains Thomas Ulbrich, member of the Volkswagen brand.
