WhatsApp Channels is rolling out message reactions for beta testers

The most widely used messaging software in the world is WhatsApp, but it can’t sit back and enjoy its success because rivals like Telegram and Signal are continually introducing cutting-edge new features to entice users. According to sources, Meta has gone above and beyond with a quality-of-life update that could aid the launch of its new one-to-many broadcasting system. The app is presently rolling out a channel feature.

WhatsApp Channels allow one individual to broadcast messages to many receivers, much like an influencer tweeting to all of their followers. They are more like social media than a regular chat experience. Channels are now only accessible in a few limited areas, but Meta is gradually expanding their scope. This new feature addition is disrupting the traditional one-way character of these kinds of exchanges.

The most recent beta of WhatsApp, v2.23.19.4, contains a new message reaction function for Channels, as described by WABetaInfo. To convey their ideas more effectively, channel followers can reply to specific updates provided within the channel with an emoji, which the channel owner as well as other followers can see. This feature had previously only been accessible to a small number of users, but the outlet reports that beta testers in areas where Channels have been launched now have wider access to it.

When it was found in the Channel settings, there was already evidence of this feature. Users can only select from emoji that have been preselected by the Channel’s administrators for the actual reactions. A thumbs-up, a red heart, a laughing face, a shocked face, a tearful face, and two hands clasped in prayer or thanksgiving are the standard responses. The ability to respond to any messages may potentially be prohibited by the channel owners.

While this was available in ordinary messages and other sections of WhatsApp, we’d like to point out that it is new to Channels in particular. By visiting the WhatsApp Announcement channel and attempting to respond to any message the service has sent out, you can quickly determine if you have the capacity.

When WhatsApp releases a new feature to beta testers, it usually becomes accessible to stable users within a month. However, as Channels aren’t yet available in most regions, this feature’s availability may differ. Users in Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Singapore, and Ukraine may already access the function, but if you’re in a waiting period, you should be aware that WhatsApp can let you know when Channels are ready.
