It is not hidden news that soon after WhatsApp announced that it would share user’s data with Facebook, everyone started looking for other similar apps. Later on, Elon Musk tweeted “use signal,” and people started replacing WhatsApp with Signal.
Not long after the company first announced its new policy, which will be implemented in May 2021, the company clarified what it earlier meant. The company discussed its new privacy policy. But all seems to be in vain.
A recent report by Gulf News stated that Signal is replacing WhatsApp as it has become the fastest-growing app worldwide. The first quarter of 2021 has witnessed a massive rise in its downloads and activity.
Then there’s Telegram, who’s also in the competition. The app has become more feature-rich than WhatsApp. According to the report, Telegram stands at number 3 in terms of downloads. And in terms of active users, the app is now standing at number 2.
WhatsApp has been one of the most widely used apps around the globe. It also has flourished so well over the years. But they ruined their success by exposing their new privacy policies. If they hadn’t done so, they would have remained at the top. And now, even when they had clarified everything, they still are losing their hold.
A source also highlighted that Signal has over 50,000,000 installs in Play Store and a 4.5 star rating.
