WhatsApp is testing out alternative solutions for connecting secondary devices

It’s now simple to chat with your loved ones on your PC thanks to WhatsApp’s desktop application. You may now use the same account on two phones thanks to improved multi-device support in WhatsApp. To connect your main WhatsApp account to another device, a QR code must always be scanned. The Meta-owned platform is developing a backup login mechanism, though, which will require you to provide an eight-digit verification code that was delivered to your phone.

Although it’s simple to install WhatsApp on a second device by scanning a QR code, it might not always be possible. Your phone’s primary camera might occasionally stop working. Additionally, since there is no other method to connect to a companion device without a working camera, it is impossible to install WhatsApp on any other device. WhatsApp is developing a “Link with a phone number instead” option for such circumstances.

For the new login option, you need to enter eight digit code

You must enter your country code and mobile number after choosing the new login option. On your primary phone, WhatsApp will then produce and deliver an eight-digit code. The ‘Link with phone number’ option, however, is now only available on WhatsApp Web. However, given the phrasing, Meta may soon add secondary devices to this capability.
