WhatsApp is working on a new “alternate profile” feature

WhatsApp is one of the most famous messaging platforms, whether it is related to a conversation with family or friends or for business purposes. Interestingly, the company is putting in efforts to cater to the needs of both cases. According to some recent pieces of information, the company is going to introduce an alternate profile feature. Besides this, the company will improve video calls on the platform.

WhatsApp will soon introduce an alternate profile feature

WABetaInfo spotted the information about an alternate profile feature. The feature is currently in the beta stage. Reportedly, the new feature will enable users to create a restricted profile that will only be visible to their contacts. In addition, there will be an alternate profile with a name and photo that will be visible to others on WhatsApp.

Several users prefer to keep their profile photos private. With the new feature, users with unsaved numbers on the device’s contact list will have access to a blank profile photo. In short, it can display an alternate profile photo and name for other people. It is quite evident that this feature focuses on improving user privacy.

WhatsApp will support video calls with up to 31 participants

In addition to this, the company is improving the video call feature. Users can now make group calls with around 31 participants. The information comes from WABetaInfo. In the past, group calls could accommodate up to 32 participants, but you could only choose to call in 15 people at a time. The call would need to begin with a small group of people, and as it progresses, more participants would need to be added one at a time. With this new modification, it’s now simpler to initiate a video call with a maximum of 32 participants right away. It has been rolled out to iOS users and is unavailable to Android users as of yet.
