WhatsApp might soon allow users to share status updates on Instagram

Being the most downloaded instant messaging app globally, one would assume WhatsApp is setting the standard for new features that other apps follow. That isn’t always the case, though, as seen by WhatsApp’s occasional adoption of features that were inspired by Telegram many years later than expected. One recent example is the addition of channels for broadcasting information. But since WhatsApp is a division of Meta, it may soon be able to use the integrations that its parent company has made possible.

One of the most popular social media apps for Android is Instagram. Even though both applications are often categorized as social networking tools, users utilize them for distinct objectives. In addition to connecting with friends and acquaintances, Instagram allows you to follow influencers in your niche. WhatsApp, on the other hand, is a very private software that can only be used by those who know your phone number to get in touch with you.

As WABetaInfo recently discovered, the reasons Meta is working on adding functionality for sharing WhatsApp stories on Instagram don’t entirely hold up in this situation. After installing the most recent beta version of the Android app (v2.23.25.20) from the Play Store, testers discovered a new feature that allows you to connect WhatsApp and Instagram accounts.

You may use this link to mirror WhatsApp status updates straight to your Instagram account as ephemeral stories. It’s located under Settings → Privacy → Status → Share my status updates. Although the new feature is currently in the development stage, it might be included in a later app version.

This kind of connection might set WhatsApp apart from other messaging services, and it would even spare users the trouble of manually repeating the same updates on many platforms. This option might not be particularly helpful to you, though, if you clearly distinguish between sharing content with acquaintances on Instagram and contacts on WhatsApp. Although specifics are yet unknown, it seems like Instagram and WhatsApp will continue to have separate controls over who can see your stories and status updates.

The fact that Instagram’s story creation tools are more sophisticated and include dynamic stickers for the weather, time, and location is another crucial factor to consider. WhatsApp does not currently have these features, and if your changes are carried over from the chat app, they might not appear as colorful. Luckily, future WhatsApp versions will close this gap.
