WhatsApp Self Destruction Feature Will Only Work in Group Chats Rather Than Individual

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp was earlier spotted to be working on a new ‘Delete Messages’ feature that will self-destroy the chats after a specific time period.

The feature of ‘Delete Messages’ was previously discovered in the Android beta version 2.19.348 which was later spotted in the WhatsApp for iOS beta.

In the WhatsApp beta version of iOS, it had been revealed that the company has completely changed the purpose of the self-disappearing messages feature. WhatsApp had made this feature more limited by only making it available in the WhatsApp groups and not available to the individual chats.

This WhatsApp’s new feature was specifically aimed for WhatsApp groups could help the users to save the storage of their mobile devices by deleting the old messages automatically.

According to the WABetaInfo, the admins of the groups will be able to select a time frame for which they want the messages to last before they get disappeared automatically. The admins of the groups will also be allowed to disable the feature.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier, WhatsApp is also started rolling out the much-awaited Dark Mode feature for the convenience of the users and reportedly some of its users have already tested it.
