WhatsApp Web Gets New Design Update

Meta revises the surface of WhatsApp Web. The desktop version of the messenger receives a darker color scheme and more modern UI elements. The design is adapted to the mobile apps, but functional restrictions remain.

WhatsApp web receives new design

Meta is currently rolling out a visual update for the web version of WhatsApp. The revision brings with it a much darker color scheme and replaces the previous bluish-dark-gray background. The new and deep black makes the characteristic green controls of the messenger emerge more.

The developers have also revised numerous details of the user interface: the search bar now appears rounded, while the dividing lines have been removed between the chats. In the vertical toolbar on the left edge, active tabs are now highlighted in white, inactive options appear in gray. The header now shows “WhatsApp” continuously – a change to the previous design in which the name of the respective tab was displayed.

The core functions of WhatsApp Web remain unchanged despite the optical facelift. Users can also send messages, share files and make language and video calls. The changes are limited to adjustments in design and user -friendliness.

Known restrictions remain

The web version retains its functional limits. Some features of the smartphone app are still missing: uploading status updates or adapting the chat background is still not possible. Meta gradually distributes the new design to all users.

A pop-up dialog provides users at the first start of the changes to the revised surface, you can also see that it was the turn of the turn-because the changes are not dramatic. If you have not seen the update so far, you can check the page by manually checking whether the update is already available.
