WhatsApp would No More Be Functional on Some Blackberry Phones

The most famous and well-loved messaging application—WhatsApp has decided to halt its support on phones that have Windows 8.0 or much older version, Blackberry 10 and Blackberry OS by the end of this year that is December 31st, 2017.

WhatsApp had an amazing journey and in the months to come the company is putting greater emphasis on the security features and much more ways to stay connected with the people one cares about.

The company announced this earlier in 2016 in a blog post with a detailed phone list that would be cut from the app’s system from providing any further developments.

As per the blog post when WhatsApp was introduced back in 2009 the use of mobile phones was very different from the present-day usage. When the app was launched— sometime earlier before its launch Apple App Store was just a few months old. The blog post mentioned that during those times about seventy percent of the smartphones sold had Blackberry and Nokia provided operating systems.

WhatsApp is a pretty active app in terms of keeping itself updated and launching new features now and then. The company also expressed its wish of focusing more on the mobile platforms used by most people.

Moreover, few other mobile devices that would not be able to operate WhatsApp include Nokia S40 that would not have an operational WhatsApp after 31st December 2018 and Android versions 2.3.7 and much older after the 1st of February 2020.

As per the blog as no more development work is being done actively for these phone platforms so there are chances that some features might stop functioning at any time.
