Windows 11 will soon receive a built-in screen recording tool

Microsoft is about to introduce a built-in screen recorder for Windows. For some good reasons, the Snipping Tool available for Windows 11 will be upgraded to include the screen recording feature. Thus, indicating that Windows users will no longer have to depend on Xbox Game Bar or third-party tools for recording their screens.

Windows 11 testers will begin receiving the updated Snipping Tool today. The new record feature enables the users to record either a complete screen or some part of it. This update is followed by four years time gap. Almost four years ago Microsoft launched a new screenshot experience for Windows users.

Dave Grochocki, principal product manager lead for Windows inbox apps mentions that Snipping Tool is a popular feature among the Insider community. It will be quite an exciting experience to include a built-in screen recorder given this update. He added that Snipping Tool is quite a handy tool for capturing and sharing content on a desktop. Along with the built-in screen recording feature, even more features will be expanded across various types of content.

The region selection feature is targeted at users interested in capturing an app rather than the whole display. Though, the Xbox Game bar provides a similar function. But it offers minimal control over what is being recorded.

As of now, Microsoft has begun with Windows 11 testers as part of the Dev Channel. In the coming weeks or even months, we can expect the wide-scale availability of this feature. But still, the wait is worth it.
