Woman Delivers a Frozen 24-year-old Baby

Tina Gibson a 26-year-old woman has delivered a baby who was frozen 24 years ago. So the age of the baby is almost same as that of the mother. The embryo of the baby girl Emma Gibson was frozen on October 14, 1992. After 24 years, Tina gave birth to Emma on 25th November 2017 in Tennessee. An embryo that is frozen, stored and preserved for a possible future birth is known as a ‘snowbaby’.

Till today, Emma is the longest frozen embryo. It has been created by unknown donors only a year after Emma’s mother’s own birth. So it is a world record created, as the age of the baby is 24 years old. Tina, who herself was 25 years old when she gave birth said, “Do you realize I’m only 25? This embryo and I could have been best friends.”

It was reported that the embryo was transferred to the mother’s uterus when it was quite apparent that the parents will not have any children due to some husband’s complexity. What is strange is that even though Emma was frozen for 24 long years, she is born as a healthy baby. Tina said, “People say, ‘oh it’s science,’ but no I think it’s a gift from the lord. It’s a gift from the lord, for sure.”

Now there is a debate about whether this is a record or it’s not. Zaher Merhi Director of IVF in New York, said, “Nobody has these records.” On the other hand, according to a few experts, the previous record was set back in 2011 when a woman gave birth to a 20-year-old healthy baby boy.

Tina said, “I just wanted a baby. I don’t care if it’s a world record or not.” Adding that “We’re just so thankful and blessed. She’s a precious Christmas gift from the lord. We’re just so grateful.”
