WordPress Now Powers 30 Percent of All Sites

As per new reports, WordPress now powers thirty percent of all the sites present on the web.

According to W3Techs—a service managed by the Austrian consulting company Q-Success that performs a survey on the top ten million sites ranked on Alexa. The number updating is done on a daily basis. Today it reported WordPress making up for the sixty percent of the Content Management System (CMS) market.

WordPress has been in the leading position for some time now. Its competitors like Drupal, Google’s Blogger, Joomla, Magento, Shopify and Squarespace following behind with a great margin. Joomla is on the second spot with three percent of websites.

It is important to mention that fifty percent of all the websites are either made from scratch or they incorporate the use of content management systems.

It is good news for the developers’ community who construct plugins and themes for the open-source content management system, along with for the web hosts who offer WordPress packages and designers or developers who offer WordPress-based sites and shops.

It was built in 2003 and it has come a long way since then. It has branched in two versions—a version that’s self-hosted and available freely and second a hosted option at WordPress.com, which includes many additional services and support into its offering for making its use much simpler.

Seeing its extensive wide-spread user base and community that supports its open-source development, it is apparent that it would not be giving up the hold to the CMS kingdom anytime soon.

The folks at San Francisco are justified in celebrating the WordPress CMS which now powers thirty percent of all the websites available on the net.
