World’s first 3-D Printed House Built by a Robot

The first 3-D printed house in the world has been revealed in Nantes, France. Its first tenants will move into the house by June.

As per the Academics at the University of Nantes who was the driving force of this project, it is the first house developed for human habitation using a robot 3D-printer.

The robot called BatiPrint3D used a unique polymer material that will keep the house insulated for at least 100 years.

BatiPrint3D took 18 days to complete its part in the house. It created hollow walls that were filled with concrete for the insulation.

Benoit Furet, a professor who worked on the project said, “Is this the future? It’s a solution and a constructive principle that is interesting because we create the house directly on site and in addition thanks to the robot, we are able to create walls with complex shapes.”

The 1000 square feet or 95 square meters, house with five rooms will be given to a local French family that qualifies the criteria for social housing.

The house has many sensors that control the humidity of rooms, air quality, and the temperature.

As per the researchers, this new technology will allow the house tenants to save energy costs.

Now the authorities in Nantes are planning more 3-D printed projects that include a public reception building along with a housing estate.

Before this, in an article, we revealed that an Austin-based startup has proposed building up a house by utilizing ease 3D printing. ICON has built up a technique for 3D-printing of a solitary story 650-square-foot house out of cement in only 12 to 24 hours.

Interesting: Apple Face ID can be cracked with a 3D Mask

It is good to see that more and more companies and countries are promoting 3-D printed houses. The advantage of a 3-D printed house is that it is cheaper, it can be built at a fast pace, it has strength & durability and it is sustainable.
