Xbox & Bethesda Showcase Details are here

There’s no shortage of big names: Diablo 4, Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Horizon were represented at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, the series of announcements and reveals was as varied as it is rare. In addition, Hideo Kojima has been signed for a new game.

Game Pass

Microsoft wanted to get a clear message across. The Game Pass is growing, 37 games and expansions, some exclusive, will be added over the next 12 months. Among them is the Resident Evil 4 remake, which was presented by competitor Sony at the recent State of Play.

Starfield

Starfield is Bethesda’s next major RPG. What the title should actually be was first laid out in more detail with a gameplay trailer. As a miner in the year 2330, players join the “Constellation” and henceforth search for artifacts as space explorers – a simple narrative pretext for exploring the game world. Steerable spaceships are actually used as vehicles. The trailer also makes it clear that, despite the fresh setting, not everything will be new. Building outposts, breaking open floodgates, shooting – these activities are reminiscent of Skyrim and Fallout 4. Starfield is scheduled for 2023.

Diablo 4

Also in 2023, Diablo 4 will open the Gates of Hell on Xbox and PC with cross-play capabilities. The fifth class, in addition to barbarian, sorceress, druid, and assassin, is the necromancer. The progress of the game should also affect the state of the world. Players will liberate beleaguered fortresses that unlock new dungeons and turn enemy locations into safe havens. New ‘world bosses’ also lurk in Sanctuary, designed to challenge groups of players. Can be played together regardless of progress or level. Special PvP zones also present other challenges.

Red closet

In Redfall, up to four players on an island can fight against vampires that have appeared on the island. The four protagonists use different equipment and skills. They complement each other, as the trailer shows on several points. The description of the gameplay makes it clear that there is more than just some kind of variant of Left 4 Dead. The world of Redfall will be an open world, the island can be recaptured piecemeal by the leeches and their allies. New weapons can be found, but their properties are calculated randomly. A loot element is also part of the game.

Forza Motorsport

The eighth part of Forza Motorsport does it without numbering. Technical developments are highlighted. The physics should now be more precise, the time of day should be dynamic, which affects the grip level due to temperature fluctuations, the damage to vehicles is more detailed and ray tracing is now also part of the technical features. In addition, dynamic weather is offered on each individual route and no longer only on selected routes. It can be played from spring 2023.

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels

Forza Horizon will receive Hot Wheels DLC on July 19. In it awaits players new crazy tracks, ten Hot Wheels vehicles, Forza stories, four new areas, and a track editor.

Hideo Kojima

Xbox Game Studios and Kojima Productions will also co-develop a game. In short, this announcement is just an announcement of an announcement, as neither the name nor the concept was presented. Instead, the project gets a bombastic description: it should use cloud capabilities, which was also repeated for the bombastically flopped Crackdown 3 as a central selling point in a continuous loop, and it should also be unheard of and unseen. That could mean anything, but at least it has content with Kojima: Death Stranding (test) a game that didn’t aim for mass taste and, polarizing as it may be, stands out from the crowd.
