Xiaomi’s Next Big Thing: A Premium Tablet to Rival Apple and Samsung

Xiaomi seems to be gearing up to launch a new high-end tablet that could directly compete with heavyweights like the iPad Pro M4 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. If the rumors are true, this could be a game-changer in the premium tablet market.

A 14-Inch Display and Lightning-Fast Charging

According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship tablet will feature a massive 14-inch screen and an impressive 120W fast-charging capability. This information, shared on the Chinese platform Weibo, hints at a device built to compete in the upper echelon of tablets. The tipster also noted that the materials and positioning of this tablet will place it at the very top of Xiaomi’s product lineup.

Further corroborating these details, another Weibo leaker, Smart Pikachu, claims the tablet will boast a 14-inch OLED display with ultra-narrow bezels – a significant step up from Xiaomi’s current offerings.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite

Perhaps the most exciting rumor is that this tablet could debut Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, potentially making it the fastest Android tablet to date. If true, this would set it apart as a serious contender in the premium tablet market.

A Likely Name: Xiaomi Pad 7 Max

Speculation around the device’s name has landed on “Xiaomi Pad 7 Max.” While not officially confirmed, this seems plausible given Xiaomi’s track record. It could be a direct successor to the Xiaomi Pad 6 Max, which launched in late 2023 with a 14-inch LCD display. However, the rumored move to an OLED screen would be a significant upgrade.

Interestingly, Xiaomi hasn’t adopted the “Ultra” naming convention, despite it being used for its Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone. Other potential names, like Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, have also surfaced, but all point to a premium addition to the Xiaomi Pad 7 lineup.

More Tablets on the Horizon

In addition to this flagship model, Xiaomi may also be working on other tablets for the Chinese market. Rumors include a 13-inch LCD tablet with a Dimensity 9400 chip and 66W charging, as well as a 13.2-inch tablet powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 80W charging.

Why This Matters

Currently, the top of Xiaomi’s tablet range is the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, priced at £449 for the standard version or £549 for the Matte Glass Version. Despite its “Pro” moniker, it occupies a mid-range price point, leaving room for a true premium device.

With competitors like the iPad Pro M4 (starting at £1,299) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (£1,199), Xiaomi has the potential to introduce a high-end tablet at a more accessible price while still undercutting its rivals.

What’s Next?

If these leaks are accurate, Xiaomi could unveil this new premium tablet – possibly called the Xiaomi Pad 7 Max – as early as April. A globally available, competitively priced, and well-marketed tablet could give Apple and Samsung some serious competition in the premium segment. Stay tuned for updates as more details emerge about Xiaomi’s exciting new tablet!
