You can make your passwords invisible on your Galaxy phone, updated with One UI
You may have observed that One UI momentarily displays the last entered digit when you write it in, whether you’re using a SIM or lock screen password on your Galaxy phone. This can be a security risk since you’re effectively giving your password one digit at a time when you type it in, even if it all happens in the blink of an eye.
If you consider this a security risk, the good news is that you can completely conceal your password. Password visibility is enabled by default on Galaxy smartphones; however, there is a setting in One UI that allows you to disable it. Here’s all you need to know.
In One UI, you may completely conceal your password
Open the Settings app on your Galaxy phone, then select “Security and privacy” to hide the last digit you typed in your passwords. You then need to go to “More security settings,” and to turn the function off, you need to hit the ON/OFF toggle for “Make password visible.”
This option is present in all One UI versions to date, including One UI 6.0. It may also be present on Galaxy phones released prior to One UI.
Additionally, if you have a lock screen pattern, you can apply the same method to it. It is possible to make it invisible, but strangely, this setting is in a separate menu from the one that controls password visibility. To secure lock settings, enter Settings, select “Lock screen,” and then click on “Make pattern visible.” This will turn the toggle off.
