YouTube Monetization: Applies Even Tougher Rules for Creators

YouTube is now focusing on even harder rules for video creators in order to monetize their videos, every video in Elite ad program will be scanned by human viewers.

YouTube is now raising the bar for videos that can qualify to advertise and pledged to add human scrutinizers to its most popular content. This is an effort to curb the adverting that is appearing alongside controversial and offensive content.

The Video giant has announced on Tuesday that human viewers would work on every video in Google Preferred, the elite ads program accessible to top creators. New videos that will be uploaded to Google Preferred channels will now go through manual verification in order to meet the YouTube guidelines before running any ads on them.

Paul Muret, Google’s vice president wrote a blog post and said, “The year 2017 was difficult, we had several issues affecting our advertising partners and community as a whole”.  He further said, “We are passionate about protecting our creators, users, and advertisers and we will make sure that YouTube is not the place for bad actors”.

The decision came after the boycott of Google’s most popular video platform by an advertiser, videos for children became the target of sexually inappropriate comments in the episode. However, YouTube is actively involved in regulating the site with hundreds of accounts termination, more than 150,000 videos removal from the platform and turned off comments on more than 625,000 videos which were targeted by child predators.

Now YouTube is also focused on raising the threshold for the channels in order to display ads on their videos. In order to qualify for the YouTube Partner Program, channels must have 1,000 subscribers and have generated a total of 4,000 hours of watch time in the past 12 months. However, previously YouTube announced 10,000 total views to be eligible for the program in April.

YouTube has now strangled around the necks of publishers and creators, now you have to work really hard to qualify for the program and even after that you have to things cleaner from your side.

Susan Wojcicki YouTube CEO said in December that they are bringing changes to the site considering an increase in the number of content moderators and employees to review the content and training algorithms. She also unveiled plans for tougher advertising measures.

In November, YouTube said the company has removed ads from more than 2 million videos and more than 50,000 channels which passed the family-friendly checks but featured inappropriate content. YouTube is now making the site safer for Kids which is a good sign of taking care of the community.
