YouYube Videos Jumps To End If AdBlockers Are Activated

The video platform has been taking aggressive action against ad blockers for some time now. Now there seems to be a new problem where videos jump to the end immediately after starting as long as Adblock is activated. But it could also be due to the plug-in itself.

Over the last few months, YouTube has taken several steps to generate more advertising revenue from its platform. Many users were extremely unhappy with the video platform’s measures. In addition to restricting third-party apps, this also included the plan to show advertisements when viewers pause a video. Above all, however, the website has been taking massive action against the use of ad blockers for some time.

Now Google seems to have come up with a new way to get users to turn off their ad blockers while consuming content on YouTube. As 9to5Google reports, videos now sometimes skip to the end as long as a corresponding browser plug-in is active.

This happens both when the content is initially played and when it is played again. If users pause their ad blocker, videos are played normally from start to finish. If you try to jump to a certain point in the video, the video will continue to load endlessly.

The cause could also be adblocker

Many visitors to the website therefore suspect that this is Google’s next attempt to eliminate ad blockers. However, it is also possible that this is a problem with the plug-in itself.

Back in January, there were reports that users who had the Adblock browser extension installed on their computers were struggling with long loading times for YouTube videos. At the time, too, it was suspected that Google was behind it. However, it later turned out that it was a bug in the plug-in itself.

The current problem with videos skipping to the end also seems to primarily affect Adblock users. So it might be worth considering switching to a different ad blocker. Especially since a recently published test of Chrome extensions found that Adblock is very ineffective compared to many alternatives when it comes to reducing the CPU load on a computer when visiting websites.
