Zoom Launches New Service

On Tuesday, the Zoom Video Communications said that it has launched a hardware subscription service, for making its teleconferencing application more accessible to the users by letting them choose the subscription options for meeting rooms and phones.

The plans for the Zoom Phone service have been priced between $5.99 and $60 monthly, based on the device users go for, while the hardware services cost for the Zoom Rooms is in the range of $75 to $200 on a per month basis, as per the website of the company.

The teleconferencing platform of the company has seen a rise in the users as the coronavirus pandemic has urged millions across the world to stay indoors. The company has faced backlash over privacy and security issues, encouraging it hence to launch major upgrades.

The release has come nearly a week after Zoom has said that it has made major progress in a transparency report that provides detailed information about the requests it receives for records, data, or content, indicating that the report would be out later this year.

On Tuesday, Zoom also joined a list of the major US internet firms, which includes Facebook Inc., Microsoft, and Google, that have suspended the processing requests for the user data from Hong Kong authorities while they study the new law.
